Raccoon Valley Fisheries located in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, is a family owned and operated business that has opened for the fall season. Rick Keeney, owner, said the business services customers on the western side of the state as well as the eastern side of Kansas. As they head into the fall season, they offer premiere stocking fish such as walleye, Northern yellow perch, bluegill, catfish and largemouth bass. The fish can be ordered for pickup or can be delivered. “Our ability to deliver to any pond or lake stocking need makes us a one stop shop for your new pond or for adding to a developed lake,” Rick said. “Whether it is one fish or 1,000, we can help develop the best stocked pond for fishing.” In addition, they offer koi for water gardens in various sizes. “Koi are a Japanese carp that are colorful and koi ponds are very popular right now,” Rick said. “They are very beautiful fish.” He said the business opened in 1963 and he has owned the fishery since 1999. “We sell freshwater fish with the exception of trout,” Rick said. “The most commonly sold fish are catfish, bluegill and bass.” They offer customers stocking packages of several fish species. The traditional pond package includes bluegill, redear, catfish, minnows and bass. He said they hatch fish at their facility. They have 38 ponds that they store the fish in and they sell them out of tanks for customers that drive to the warehouses every weekend or customers can make an appointment for deliveries. “After we spawn the fish, we put them into the ponds to be raised and feed,” Rick said. “As we need them, we then move them over into well water tanks. They can then be transported and delivered or sold out of those tanks.” He said their customers are often agricultural operations and landowners that want to stock fish on their property. “We are customer-oriented,” Rick said. “Our customer base is in Missouri and Kansas and we can re-stock when needed.” Raccoon Valley Fisheries is located at 21305 S. Staley Mound Road in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. They are open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and other times by appointment. They can be contacted by phone at 816-540-2367.
