The Heritage Event and Arts Center in Leavenworth, Kansas, will host monthly dinner shows this year.
Scotty Brezgiel, executive director, said the dinner shows include a four course meal that is tailored to the event. Table reservations are required in advance and seating is determined on a first come, first serve basis.
The monthly dinner shows are sponsored by the center and feature entertainers from the Branson area as well as local talent.
This year’s programs will be A Tribute to George Strait, Legends of the Opry, Southern Gospel and Comedy Show, A Tribute to Garth Brooks and Malt Shop Memories which is music from the 1950s and 1960s.
She said the success of the center is partly due to the diversity in the shows and the wide-range of uses for the building to the community.
“The center is a social place where groups of all sizes meet for a large variety of events,” Brezgiel said. “More recently there have been many baby showers, weddings, retirement parties, funeral dinners, school sports banquets and school programs.”
She said there are several local bridge playing groups that come to the center to play and socialize with their friends on a weekly basis. There are games such as Joker, Pinochle and Farkle. A Bible study group also meets weekly.
The Heritage Center is a not-for-profit organization. It was established in 2000 to house the Council on Aging and assist with providing services to seniors in Leavenworth County.
While the facility was created as a place for seniors to socialize, it’s variety of rooms and space drew interest from other groups and individuals in the community.
It now markets to anyone in need of space for any type of event.
The five different rooms available to the public include a banquet room of 5,000 square feet, a Kansas room of 2,000 square feet, a craft room of 700 square feet, a sun room that is 600 square feet and a heritage room that is 2,000 square feet.
A Tribute to George Strait dinner show will be on April 24. A brisket meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. the show will begin. Tickets for the show and dinner are $30.
