The first Gun Show hosted by the Smithton Masonic Lodge #1 in Highland, Kansas, will be held July 31 and Aug. 1 as a fundraiser for the community.
Jason Foland, Worshipful Master of the Smithton Lodge, said the two-day event will raise funds for the lodge that are then distributed back into the community. They were the first chartered Masonic Lodge in Kansas.
He said they offer scholarships to high school students each year and they raise money to cover the cost of participating in local youth summer baseball and softball teams.
In addition, they donate funds to other organizations such as Kaden’s Kloset in Troy, Kansas, which benefits children in the area. The Gun Show will be at the Highland Community Center located at 501 West Ave. in Highland, Kansas. The admission fee into the show is $5.
Foland said there will be local dealers and private collectors from across the region at the show. There is a $40 per table fee to be a vendor and a table reservation is required.
“We are open to firearm vendors from the four-state area and new vendors can still sign-on to participate,” Foland said. “We want to have tables with a variety of styles of guns and ammunition.”
He said no loaded or illegal firearms are allowed and there will be 24-hour security.
