The Rusty Chandelier in St. Joseph will host a three-day vintage Christmas open house this weekend.
Mary McPhee, general manager, said the event will offer holiday gifts and décor.
“This is the time of year when customers start thinking about their Christmas decorations, family and food,” McPhee said. “The vintage Christmas decorations are still very collectable, especially the old silver Christmas trees with the color wheel.”
She said the trees range in price from $100 to $250. They also sell old-fashioned glass Christmas ornaments. Shiny Brite glass Christmas tree ornaments were the most popular ornaments in the United States throughout the 1940s and 1950s.
The Vintage Christmas Open House will be from Friday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 10. Refreshments will be provided. Attendees can enter to win prizes and there will be daily drawings for a gift certificate to the mall.
Kevin and Angie Hummer built the Jesse James Antique Mall in 1997 and they opened the nearby Rusty Chandelier in 1998, both in St. Joseph.
Kevin and Angie have been putting on flea markets, antique shows and other events for 30 years. They opened one of the first Antique Malls in the Midwest in the 1980s in Savannah, Missouri.
They have over 35,000 square feet of indoor shopping and over 240 antique dealers.
The Jesse James Antique Mall also offers items for the kitchen such as antique cookware like Pyrex ceramic dishes, Corningware casserole dishes and old-fashioned glass refrigerator dishes.
The Jesse James Antique Mall and the Rusty Chandelier are located at the corner of Interstate 29 and North Business Highway 71 off of exit 53 in St. Joseph. They are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
