Plato’s Closet in St. Joseph is a recently opened store that buys back gently used clothing from the public.

Ryleigh Burks, store manager, said they pay cash on the spot for clothing given for the retail store. The store was opened by owner Jill Martin last year.

Burks said the store focuses on teen and young adult age ranges for the styles they buy. She said they check the condition and style before buying clothes for men and women.

“Our computer is what prices the clothes and it prices them 50 to 70 percent off the retail rate and then when people sell the clothes to us, they recieve one third of what it gets priced back in cash,” Burks said.

Plato’s Closet buys all seasons of clothes each day of the week. They also keep clothes from all seasons available for purchase all year.

In addition, they buy and sell accessories such as jewelry, shoes, purses, belts and backpacks.

She said shoppers of any age are welcome to sell clothing and purchase items at the retail store..
