A new pet grooming and kennel business opened recently near Savannah, Missouri.
Katie and Blayton Bowles opened the Ol’ Wash Tub near their home. The business offers full-service grooming, boarding and daycare for pets.
Katie’s parents, Troy and Rhonda Graham, also own and support the business.
Katie Bowles said she has been in the pet service industry for almost seven years. Her son goes to work with her and helps care for the animals.
The grooming services they provide include baths, haircuts, nail trims and de-shedding treatments.
She said the bulk of their grooming service is for dogs but once a month they do offer cat grooming. In addition, they offer grooming and nail trims for small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs.
“I used to be in 4-H and FFA,” Bowles said. “I showed rabbits for almost 15 years so I have the knowledge to care for their grooming.”
She said they began boarding dogs for customers at the end of November.
They have 12 kennels but they can board up to 15 dogs at a time because multiple dogs can be boarded together in the same kennel.
“We won’t keep more than 15 dogs because then they aren’t getting the one-on-one care that we want to provide,” Bowles said.
They also offer half-day or full-day daycare services for dogs.
Ol’ Wash Tub is located at 17896 County Road 311 near Savannah.
