Warner Locker Incorporated in Maysville, Missouri, is celebrating 70 years of business this year.
The family-owned livestock processing business opened in DeKalb County in 1950.
The original owners were Clark and Grace Ellen Warner. Their son Gary Warner currently does the commercial refrigeration repairs and electrical work at the plant.
Tim Whisler, son-in-law to the Warner family and owner, said he began working at the facility in 1982.
Whisler said the facility is a federally inspected plant which allows customers to sell their product. They also process livestock for those using the food for personal consumption.
He said the main livestock they process are cattle and hogs but also offer services for sheep and goat producers.
The meat is processed by Kevin Cochran who has worked at the plant for 30 years along with his daughters Hannah and Hailey who aid the operation.
The business does their own meat curing at the facility and they customize orders to meet the needs of their customers.
“We can customize their cuts into steaks, roasts or ground beef,” Whisler said. “The custom processing is determined by the customer and we do it that way.”
