The Moon Marble Co. in Bonner Springs, Kansas, will be holding their 20th annual Marble Crazy event this weekend.

Bruce Breslow and Lynda Sproules, owners of Moon Marble Co., said the company offers a large selection of machine-made and handmade contemporary marbles for sale.

Since it was founded in 1997, they have had visitors from every state and numerous other countries.

In addition, they sell novel games and retro toys including from the 1950s such as Password and yo-yos.

“We have toys from other eras,” Sproules said. “We go back and try to get nostalgic toys and games.”

The company will host the 20th annual “Marble Crazy” show on March 6 and March 7 in Bonner Springs. Admission to the event is free.

Sproules said there are different techniques used to create a range in marble designs such as vortex marbles where there is a spiral moving down into the marble, solar system replicas, turtles in a pond and flowers.

Marbles can also range in sizes from pee-wees to four inches in diameter.

During the event, there will be 28 artists highlighted that work with soft and hard glass.

Sproules said the artists will demonstrate the techniques of taking molten glass from the furnace and from the torch and creating art glass marbles.

She said there will be four demonstration areas including a hot glass station, two torch working stations and a marble machine station created by an engineer.

“The artists that make the marbles seem to never tire of ways to look for new and innovative designs and it’s amazing what they do,” Sproules said. “We will also have new artists this year. Every year, it’s really great to see the artists and the new things they come up with.”

The glass workers will also display their work for sale and highlight new designs.

The Marble Crazy Show will be a two-day event. The show will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 6 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 7.

The show takes place at the Moon Marble Co. located on Kansas Highway 32 just west of Kansas Highway 7 in Bonner Springs.
