A locally-owned donut shop opened in Smithville, Missouri, in March.
The Donut Palace is a family owned and operated store that offers donuts, cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, breakfast sandwiches and Texas Kolache.
The owner of the business is Chanra Tiav who moved to Missouri from the country of Cambodia.
Shelby Santhuff, manager, said they begin making donuts at 1 a.m. each morning and continue to make them throughout the day.
She said the store has had a steady stream of customers since opening.
“We opened up in the middle of the quarantine so it was nice to see people get out and still be able to social distance and not be stuck inside their home,” Santhuff said.
They have glazed, chocolate, strawberry and blueberry donuts.
“We sell a lot of glaze donuts,” Santhuff said. “Which is really awesome because you know you have a good donut shop if people are crazy about your glaze.”
She said they sell food and beverages that customers would like to purchase for breakfast.
A unique menu item they offer is a Texas Kolache which is sausage and cheese wrapped in croissant dough.
The Donut Palace is open from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. everyday. They can be contacted by phone at 816-343-6063. They are located at 125 U.S. 169 Highway. They can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/donutpalacesmithville/.
