Nina L. House, owner, said she opened the shop on July 4th weekend. Her husband, John W. House, aids in managing the store that is located in a house on their buffalo and cattle farm.

She has sold antiques and collectables at Rusty Chandelier in St. Joseph for almost eight years. After the coronavirus outbreak, she decided to open her own store.

“I patterned my business after a Younkers Department Store in Des Moines, Iowa, that I grew up with as a child,” House said. “We have a wide variety of products for everyone.”

She said they plan to showcase products by local artists at the shop. At their grand opening, they had Carrie Wampler’s key chains available for purchase. The stained glass came from the Bolckow United Methodist Church.

In addition, the antique store has an historic switch board from Gilford, Missouri, on display. While it won’t be for sale, they do have vintage phones that are available for purchase.

She said they sell new and used vintage clothes including hats and gloves.

They also have a product line of antique furniture.

“For the most part, we don’t sell painted furniture so everything is natural wood which we really appreciate,” House said.

She said the second floor of the house is filled with children’s items such as clothes, toys and antique furniture. Their garage holds tools and sleds as well.

The store also has a large bookcase with vintage and collectable books for adults and children.

Buffalo Ridge Antiques is located at 7401 Highway C in Rosendale. The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
